Redwing Mine

At Redwing Mine, two main orebodies the felsite and quartz, are where mining has taken place. The felsite orebodies range in thickness from 2 to 15 metres (averaging 5 metres) and are shallow dipping. Gold mineralisation is generally disseminated, and grades are approximately 2 to 3g/t. The quartz orebodies are generally narrow (<2.5 metres) and steeply dipping and generally average 6 to 7g/t, although locally have very high grades (>50g/t). Gold mineralisation is associated with sulphide mineralisation comprising pyrite, galena, chalcopyrite, minor arsenopyrite and sporadic native gold. Silver occurs with the gold and represents some 50% of gold content.

Redwing Mine is in another historic mining district, with mining dating back to 1889.
